Questions in the Morning

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Brittany Shane to Perform Free, All-Ages Show at Meanwhile Brewing Tuesday, March 29th and Release New Single, “Questions in the Morning”

Austin singer-songwriter Brittany Shane will be performing with her band at Meanwhile Brewing on Tuesday, March 29th from 7-9pm. This is a free, all-ages show. Shane has opened for Heart, Foreigner and Peter Frampton. She has also found success beyond the stage with her songs receiving placement in film, television and commercials; including Hyundai, Oxygen, PBS, A&E and more.

Shane will be releasing her new song “Questions in the Morning” the night of her show at Meanwhile Brewing. This is her second single out this year. She released “It’s Your Move” in January 2022. The song was about the popular Netflix show,” The Queen’s Gambit” and the relationship between the main characters Beth and Townes (the moment they almost kissed, but instead started playing chess!).

The new song, “Questions in the Morning” was recorded at YellowDOG Studios in Wimberly, TX and features Brittany Shane on lead vocals and guitar, Josh Center (David Cook, Zac Malov) on drums, Adam Odor (Mike and the Moonpies) on bass, Dave Percefull (Meat Puppets, Green Day, Gary Clark Jr.) on electric guitar and keys and backup vocals by J. Meridian. Josh Center produced, David Percefull mixed and Adam Odor mastered the track.

Brittany Shane wrote the song about mornings with her husband Scott – how she is always wide awake and ready to ask so many questions so very early every morning. Scott, even though he’s a nurse who wakes up really early, is not so much into talking (he might even be a little grumpy?). Shane loves him though and discusses how they miss each other when the other one is not around.

Brittany Shane grew up in the small town of Baraboo, WI (home of the Ringling Brothers and Circus World Museum). Right out of the gate as a college student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Brittany Shane was grabbing rave reviews left and right, including “Best Female Vocalist” honors from Maximum Ink Magazine and the lead music articles from Wisconsin State Journal. After two well-received albums released under her maiden name (Safranek), the Americana singer-songwriter pawned a guitar to make the move to San Francisco and quickly become a staple at the Fillmore while playing in the poster room while Aimee Mann, Chris Isaak and Travis graced the main stage. She later would open for Heart, Peter Frampton and Foreigner at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga, CA. After another album which would land on the San Francisco Chronicle’s Top 20 List of the year, Shane found success beyond the stage, her songs receiving placement in film, television and commercials, including Hyundai, Oxygen, PBS, A&E and more.

Having fallen in love with Austin while on tour, Shane’s next move brought her to the Lone Star State where she discovered legendary guitar virtuoso Scrappy Jud Newcomb (Ian Mclagan, Stephen Bruton, John Dee Graham) at the Continental Club. The two joined forces on Shane’s 5th studio album, Loud Nights on a Short String. Since then, Shane has become a mother and yet still found time to release her 2018 self titled album, which was recorded at Resonate (Nada Surf, The New Pornographers) in Austin and mastered by Alex Lyon at The Bubble (Gary Clark Jr., The Dandy Warhols, Jet). The album was co-produced by longtime friend Jeff Byrd (Spoon, Explosions in the Sky, Iron and Wine) and Shane herself and featured an impressive studio ensemble, including Brad Rice on lead guitar (son Volt, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Keith Urban) and Michael Tarabay on bass (Pat Green, Chris Cage, Bodeans).

While her past albums have mainly dealt with the themes of love, loss and strength, Shane’s new singles of 2021 and 2022 feature a new major inspiration – her young son Oliver. “Where”s The Moon”” simmers with honey-eyed visions of childhood innocence and “Texas Boy” is a smile-inducing lullaby, brimming with love for a child and an adopted home state. Shane’s sweet and clear melodies shine throughout these collection of singles she’s been releasing that beg to be heard though headphones. Listen to her current single releases on the “Music & Lyrics” page and see where she’s playing next solo or with her band on her “Shows” page.

LYRICS FOR 'QUESTIONS IN THE MORNING'

QUESTIONS IN THE MORNING

By: Brittany Shane, 2022

When you’re searching
I am too

When you’re leavin’
I get blue

Anytime you disappear
Know that I worry when you’re not here
Call you on the telephone
You’re never alone

Wake up in the sunrise
Know that you’re always on my mind
All these questions in the morning
Never boring

When you walk in
Feels like new

When you’re talkin’
I hear you

Anytime you disappear
Know that I worry when you’re not here
Call you on the telephone
You’re never alone

I wake up in the sunrise
Know you’re always on my mind
All these questions in the morning
Never boring

Anytime you disappear
Know that I worry when you’re not here
Call you on the telephone
You’re never alone

I wake up in the sunrise
Know you’re always on my mind
All these questions in the morning
Never boring
You’re never alone
